Go get them!
Tjunk.com & Laid Back Radio proudly present… The “Inspired by Dilla” week,February 6th – 12th
On February 7th, 1974 James Dewitt Yancey, aka J Dilla or Jay Dee, was born; on February 10th, 2006, this emblematic hip hop producer sadly passed away… and so we claim this week as “Inspired by Dilla” at Tjunk.com! NPR Music in a short but striking obituary, states that Dilla “was one of the music industry’s most influential hip-hop artists, working for big-name acts like A Tribe Called Quests, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes and Common.” In honor of Dilla’s great musical legacy, how inspired he was by music and how much of an inspiration he still is to others, we want to raise money to support The J Dilla Foundation! In our store you’ll find a series of ‘Inspired by Dilla’ T–shirts especially designed by some of our favorite illustrators. The profit made on these T-shirts will be fully donated to The J Dilla Foundation, to continue their focus on giving the gift of music to the youth, especially when they have no means to do so themselves… Because music is the heart of things, we organized an ‘Inspired by Dilla’ playlist, composed by DJ’s Vlada Stojanovic and TomE. The playlist tells in 22 tracks the story of Dilla’s musical legacy: starting at where he got his own inspiration (his father and other ‘originals’) followed by his own creations and ending with tracks from artists that were ‘Inspired by Dilla’ himself…
Check out the playlist at 22tracks.com and mixcloud.com/LaidBackRadio
And be ‘Inspired by Dilla’, just like the rest of us!
