'Prominent painter, writer, and globetrotter Jan Cremer first hit the Dutch art scene in the 50s. His breakthrough style of ‘’peinture barbarisme’’ rocked the traditional art scene like an earthquake. Departing from old traditions, he used dozens of gallons of paint, enhancing it with raw materials such as plaster, sand and tar. He’s been known as the ´gangster of art’ ever since.'
'In the 60s he conquered the literary world with his controversial worldwide best seller “I, Jan Cremer”, a manifesto for rebels, free thinkers and working class heroes. Groundbreaking solo exhibitions, amazing books and stories keep popping up. His work challenged writers, artists and fashion designers all over the world to chase their dreams.
